To begin a tech pack project, we’ll need from you:

1. Your idea. Any kind kind of verbal description, rough sketch or a photo/image of a similar design. A back of the napkin scribble is fine!

2. A physical reference sample in the mail. (This can be an item that you've bought from another store, it doesn’t have to be a custom made prototype if you don’t have one). We will use it as a starting point for the shape/dimensions/fit that you want to create. It doesn't matter if the prototype or reference sample is not the exact same or perfectly made.

Your reference sample doesn’t have to be a custom made prototype… it can be another existing product that you like the shape of. Simply customize it with scissors, or tape, staples, or pens to mock up a first draft of your idea.

We don't want anyone to plagiarise or copy designs from anyone else! That is not something we would promote! The reference sample is used as a starting point only, for the sizing and measurements that go in your tech pack (it should not be ripped off/copied). We could make these measurements 100% from scratch instead of referring to something our clients have sent us… But this results in more work for our clients later as they are more likely to want to make changes. Using a reference sample to guide us removes some subjectivity from the process... which saves our clients both time, money, and resources in the development process. Win for you, win for your sewer and win for us.

Starting with a sample is a hack that will get you better results, faster (Sampling & manufacturing is an expensive and time consuming process). It doesn’t make our lives easier – it’s for your benefit.

Yes it is! As long as you have a concept and direction, we can help you fill in the details, function, materials, construction, etc.

If you don’t yet have a concept and direction, we have a self paced, step-by-step video course on how to go from idea, to research, to designs your customers actually want to buy.

No problem. All our packages include professional technical drawings (aka CAD sketches or flats). As long as you can describe your idea to us, we can draw it! We will create drawings for all the necessary views and angles of your design. Front, back, side, etc.

Once you’ve paid in full, you own the rights to all the work and can take them to any factory/supplier in the world. All your deliverables (files) are clearly marked with your copyright and an assignment of the design rights to your brand.

We are a tight knit team of 3, with over 25+ years combined industry experience. We value integrity, security and transparency highly (really… it’s on our about page). We rely on successful + happy clients for referrals – it’s just not in our professional interest to cheat or steal.

We get asked to sign so many NDAs – our lawyer advised that we can’t continuously sign them all! We’ve had our standard client agreement re-written to include confidentiality, intellectual property and design rights clauses just for you.

After we complete your tech packs, we can refer you to a number of suppliers on our network who match your production/sewing requirements.

We want to be your biggest cheerleaders and inspire you, but we can’t tell you it’s that it’s EASY (because that would be a lie – unfortunately it is not). Yes we do! We can help you with digital pattern making, 3D samples, fittings, grading, markers and other graphic/textile print design services. We don’t offer any sewing services.

The most efficient option is to have 1 person/company do both at the same time! To start you’ll just need an idea plus a reference sample (similar fit/shape item).

Tech packs are completed as PDF files. For a small additional fee, we can switch to Adobe Illustrator and Excel files (we charge a fee as these file types slow down our efficiency considerably).

Yes, absolutely. Our services will help you formalize the designs and samples you’ve developed. Once you have our tech pack in hand, you’ll have everything documented so that your current production can stay organized, and/or you’ll have full specs and info to send to prospective factories if you decide to diversify in future. Prevent things from going awry right now, plus keep the ball in your court for the future.

No, we don’t do tech packs for footwear / jewelry / watches / hard shell bags / hard shell luggage unfortunately, only for apparel or textile products.
